Die Hards

Tell me all you Utah natives. Is this a normal thing? I have lived in Kaysville for about 9 years now and I have seen this phenomenon every year. People reserve their seats the day before and section off a huge chuck of space to watch the 4th of July parade. Some people even put up canopies. Yours truly also partakes in this practice, if we want a spot to watch the parade, we really have no choice but to pick our spot early too. There are signs all along Main Street stating that you cannot save your spot along the parade route until July 3rd. Ryan woke me up early this morning to tell me that he was going to set up our chairs. I was really tired and confused and really couldn't remember where or why he was setting up the chairs. When he came home, he told me that the parade route was already pretty packed. I just wanted a nice shady place, so luckily, Ryan found a nice spot under a tree for us. We also have our blanket saving a spot for us on the hill for the fireworks show. I often wonder if we could get away with such behavior anywhere else in the world.
