Halloween 2010

Halloween is over!!! Can you believe it's November already, you know what's just around the corner.....Anyway, Halloween for us started on Friday at 12:30pm and ended last night around 9:30 when we had the final Trick or Treaters come to our door. Here's a summary....

On Friday at Braxton's school, they had Math Games at 12:30. They went to different classes and played games. It was fun. After the math games, they had their Halloween Parade and class parties. Since they only get one recess, the kids in Braxton's class decided that instead of a party, they wanted an extra recess. So, they took their Capri Suns and goodies outside and played. The weather was perfect, the whole weekend was beautiful.

After school, they had Trick or Treat on Main Street here in Wellington. All the businesses downtown gave candy to the kids. They got soooo much candy. After Trick or Treat on Main Street, the Wellington chapter of the Elks had a trunk or treat and some fun activities with a hay maze for the kids. Again, my kids got tons of candy. The above picture is Braxton and Ryan at the Trick or Treat on Main Street.

On Saturday, we had our ward party at Church. It was a great party. The Activities Committee did an amazing job. We had a trunk or treat there too. We did decorate our trunk, but I forgot to take a picture. We won second place in the trunk decorating contest and Braxton and Ryan won the Grand Prize for their costumes.

Happy Halloween

This morning while I was making breakfast for Braxton, "Thriller" came on the radio. I thought what a great way to start the day. Of course, after you hear the song, you have to see the video. I am so thankful for YouTube.

Halloween 2009

Yesterday was so fun. The weather was perfect, I really can't complain. We went to a trunk or treat at our Stake Center. The kids got so much candy. But, of course, that was only the beginning. We went trick or treating around the neighborhood with Kara and Sarah. Emma aka Sleeping Beauty fell asleep, so Ryan took her home. Sarah and I stayed with the kids. One of Kara's straps on her cupcake costume broke, so we decide to go home and have her change her costume, take a potty break and head out for round two. The kids had so much fun and got way too much candy. We couldn't convince them that it was getting late and it was time to go home. Braxton thought that since Halloween was over at midnight, then they should be allowed to trick or treat until midnight. (I think he's ready to go home to Canada and trick or treat with that mind-set..)

I am happy that Ryan was able to come home for Halloween, even if he was only home for about 14 hours. The great thing was that we "fell back" last night so he was home an extra hour.

Look What I Helped Make (sort of)

About three years ago, my mother-in-law gave me a sewing machine for Christmas. Maybe she thought I needed help being domestic or something. I can sew, but not very well. I can sew in a straight line (usually). This week, I dusted off my sewing machine and for three fun-filled afternoons Lisa came over and taught me how to sew. Lisa usually makes her kids' Halloween costumes. She has quite a great talent. This year is the first year that she will not be sewing a costume for her kids. So, she was kind enough to offer to help me make Emma's Sleeping Beauty costume. I did sew a little bit, I would say that I made 5% of the costume. I think if I had to sew the whole thing, it maybe would have been done by Christmas. The costume is so cute, but I think the best part of the whole experience was getting to know Lisa better. We had a great time. Thanks you Lisa for all your help. I owe you big time.

HALLOWEEN

We had a great Halloween. Braxton was a clone soldier from Star Wars, The Clone Wars. He got soooo much candy and of course, we have a lot left over from our trick or treater candy because we didn't have very much traffic at our house. I was careful not to buy my favorite candy, so if there was leftovers, I wouldn't sit home all day and eat it.

Braxton doesn't have school tomorrow because it's the end of their first term (whatever that means), so today is his Halloween parade and party at school.

Frightmares

I love Halloween. It's something that I have inherited from my mother. We have season passes to the local amusement park, Lagoon. Every October Lagoon decorates with a Halloween theme and does the usual Halloween activities like haunted houses and such. They call it Frightmares. Since Braxton didn't have school today, we spent the day at Lagoon riding rides and enjoying all things Halloween.

Last year, Braxton was afraid of these chainsaw guys, but this year he was very brave, although he does look a little nervous in the picture. After the picture he turned to me and said, "That wasn't so bad." I liked that the chainsaw guys weren't trying to scare him and were joking around with him before the picture. Good job, friendly chainsaw guys.
