Early Spring Fever

Today was a beautiful day. One of my favorite things about today was hearing the sound of basketballs being dribbled on the pavement outside. A sure sign that spring is just around the corner. (Here is a picture of Braxton and our neighbor, Austin, shooting some hoops this afternoon.)

Boart Longyear Children's Christmas Party

Because of cut-backs at Ryan's work, they didn't have a staff Christmas party this year. So, we were pretty excited that they decided not to do away with the Children's Christmas party. Let's be honest, it is more fun to go to a party with clowns, face painting, Santa, hot dogs, pizza and ice cream sundaes than some "mingling" party with a bunch of adults.

I was trying to take a nice picture of my son in front of this tree, but he was in a hurry.

Dear Mother Nature, (Part 2)

Thank you for answering my letter with sunshine. We wore coats on Sunday and have shorts on today. I don't expect to wear shorts for much longer, but I do enjoy the sunshine.

Dear Mother Nature,

I know that I had requested nice, crisp fall weather, but this is not what I had in mind. It's a little too crispy for October. If I could just have a few more weeks of fall. I still have some bulbs that need to be planted and I haven't had time to dig out all our winter clothes. So, if you can hold off and not let it snow again until the day after Thanksgiving when I am putting up my Christmas decorations, that would be wonderful. I don't think that's too much to ask. Fall???

I love fall, it is my favorite season. I love that crisp feeling in the air. I love watching the leaves change color. Ryan and I started dating in the fall, so it always reminds me of that time. I am not a fan of the hot Utah summers, so I love it when it gets cooler. Of course, I really love that fall leads to great things like Halloween, Thanksgiving and CHRISTMAS!!! It was 88 degrees today (31 C if you are following along at home). Even though the calendar says that it's fall and the leaves on the mountains just east of our house are turning colors, we are still wearing shorts. So, since it was such a gorgeous day, I decided to take Braxton and the girls (our neighbors, Courtney and Kara) to the park after school. I sat on a blanket and did my homework while they played, looked for and found acorns and enjoyed the sunshine. I do keep wondering though, when will my "crispy" air be here?

Labor/Labour Day

We went to bed at 4 am this morning. Ryan and I started watching Season 4 of "24" and just couldn't go to bed until we were at the point where our eyes were bleeding. About 4 hours later, I woke up to the sound of hail hitting my kitchen sky light. It rained most of the day today, so Ryan and I decided that instead of wasting away on the couch watching Jack Bauer save the day, that we would clean our basement (which is unfinished). What a great feeling it is to walk downstairs and actually feel like you don't need a tetanus shot afterwards. It looks great and I always feel good when I get to throw some things away too. I wish that we could have gone and done some fun "end of summer" activity outside, but I had fun just to hanging out with my boys today.
